Beven & Doyle
Ball Boy Blues is a quick, snappy whimsical animated short where two opposing ball boys chase down a home run ball through a neighborhood. The chase escalates until the two adversaries are soundly dumped and exhausted. At that moment they look like they might actually make peace, but then another home run puts them both on opposite sides once again.
Style
Beven & Doyle is done in the style of an old time, classic cartoon. Executed in 3D and using a gradient-map technique to give the world a softness in tone - but much of the shape language in the design is angular and graphic, hard edges. This kind of show would be amazing as a stereoscopic piece or as a nod to the viewmaster projector. It could feel like an episode of "Gumby" or a Bski holiday special we wish we had seen.
